Seed germination was significantly affected by the accelerated ageing (40°C, 95% RH) in chilli. Electrical conductivity and soluble sugar content were high in leachate of aged seeds. The quantum of leakage varied in different genotypes and it was more in cultivars having low percentage of germination.
