Lentil (Le tse escutenta moeneh.) seeds were grown outdoors in field plots. Plants were allowed to irradiate with UV—B (Polychromatic, high pressure mercury lamp, 300 watt) for 1h and 4h daily at noon time, upto maturity. Growth and development of plants was greatly influenced due to U/exposures, fresh weight and dry weight were lesser in all the plants exposed to UV—B. The development of chlorophyll pigments was reduced in UV treated plants. Crop yield and total net productivity (TNP) was also inhibited due to UV irradiation.
