The eallus tissues developed from anther, leaf and cotyledon of TMV2 groundnut were subjected to biochemical analysis. The root-forming calli were found to have higher starch than non-root-forming calli. The shoot-forming leaf callus had still higher starch content. The soluble protein was lower in root-forming calli but increased again in the shoot-forming leaf callus. The activity of peroxidrse enzyme was higher in root-forming Ones than that in corresponding non-root-forming calli and it further increased in shoot-forming callus. IAA exidase activity was very low in root-forming calli and it increased in shoot-forming leaf callus.
