Abstract

Nitrate reductase activity (NRA) of leaf, ro3t and nodules in two chickpea varieties (C 235 and BG 209) was estimated at the first flower flush, under normal and stressed soil moisture conditions. NRA was higher in leaf as compared to root and nodules under normal soil moisture. Uunder soil moisture stress, leaf NRA decreased considerably, whereas that in root increased. The level of nodular NRA was low except in BG 209 under normal water.
