Monocarpic senescence of Arachis hypogaea: Nutrient withdrawal vs. migration of senescence signal
Abstract
Prior to harvest, the levels of chlorophyll and sugar in the leaves of deflorated Arachis hypogaea was higher than defruited or control plants indicating the order of senescence as: control > defruited> deflorated. Evidently, the presence of aerial lowers is more lethal than that of underground fruits so far development of monocarpic senescence of Arachis hypogaea is concerned.
