Correlations of different leaf characters with photosynthetic rate (Pn) among twenty early elite rice varieties indicated that stomatal diffusive conductance (r=0.769**) and nitrogen per unit leaf area (NLA) (r=0..954**) had high association with Pn. Path coefficients revealed direct influence of NLA on Pn.
