Abstract

A drastic reduction in the leaf area (about 62 per cent) of a black pepper lateral after 60 days of spike initiation, affected the yield attributes severely due to limitation in the availability of current photosynthates however, the existence of a partial compensatory triggering mechanism in photosynthesis is also possible.
