Abstract

The germination of ber kernels treated with Abseisic acid (ABA) was not only poor compared to ccntrol, the germination was delayed as well. The quantification of endogenous ABA like substances in ber kernels done using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) indicated that the kernels with testa accounted for 38.7 per cent more of ABA like substances than the kernels without testa and papery testa alone accounted for 45.2 per cent of the total ABA like substances present in the kernels.
