Abstract

Boron deficiency in mustard (Brassica campestris L.) grown in sand culture decreased dry matter yield, total water content and water saturation deficit of plants but increased specific water content. Boron deficient plants had low water potential, stomatal pore opening and transpiration. There was an increase in accumulation of soluble nitrogen, proline, sugars and starch, and decrease in chlorophyll concentration, Hill reaction activity, intercellular CO2 concentration and net photosynthesis.
