Abstract

Seed inoculation with Azospirillum brasihnse increased root and shoot biomass, green leaf area and its duration and yield besides increasing net photosynthetic rate, transpiration and stomatal conductance in wheat as compared to non-inoculated control. The response to seed inoculation was more prominent under low fertility conditions (no added nitrogen) as compared to the plants supplied with 40 kg nitrogen.
