Abstract

Under toxic concentrations of cadmium sulphate, DNA content increased Jin endosperm but decreased in embryo. RNA content remained unaltered after CM treatment. Soluble protein content increased in endosperm following Cd treatment. Protein content also increased in embryo on g fresh weight basis but decreased on seedling basis.

α-amylase activity and ATPase activity of germinating rice seedlings declined following Cd-treatment. RNase activity decreased on seedling basis but increased on fresh weight basis on Cd-application.
