The effect of different concentrations of penicillin as foliar spray on growth, nodulation, sugar, nitrogen and amino acid contents in different plant parts of mungbean [Vigna radiata L. (Wilczek)] plants were examined. Plants treated with 100 and 200 mg dm-2 penicillin showed more shoot length, leaf area, fresh and dry weight and higher level of chlorophyll, sugar, total nitrogen and amino acid content over the control. Nodule number also increased significantly. Plants treated with 200 mg dm-2 penicillin at early flowering stage produced two times higher nodules than control. 100 and 200 mg dm-2 penicillin appeared to be better in all respect over control while 400 mg dm-2 penicillin was found less effective.
