Abstract

Among 70 varieties of soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merrill) the high yielding cultivars recorded high values of specific leaf weight, crop growth rate, harvest index and total dry weight per plant as compared to low yielding ones. The profusely branching types accumulated more dry matter in shoot resulting m low harvest index. Variety Ace. No. 287/4 yielded highest per plant which is attributed to the earlier attainment of high CGR and leaf area index.
