Abstract

Seed dry weight, moisture, ash, total lipid and their fatty acid profile, crude protein, total pentosans, mucilage matters and the sugar monomers of acid hydrolysed mucilages in developing seeds of three isabgol cultivars were studied at six developmental stages : Seed-set (S1), milky (S2), dough (S3), dough + 5 days (S4), physiological maturity (S5) and harvest (S6). All three varieties had similar pattern of changes. However, the mutant variety had less content of all the constituents and at each stage of development as compared to other two varieties.
