Abstract

Studies were conducted to assess the role of pods in photosynthesis and seed development using 14CO3. The fixation varied with the developmental period. Young pods fixed more or 14CO2 than the old ones. The assimilation in seeds increased with passage of time. Maximum translocation was at 10 days after anthesis followed by 30 days, suggesting the possibility of higher translocation after 20 days. Observations onethanol insoluble fractions supported the present findings.
