Abstract

No desiccation injury was shown in wheat seeds up to 1.5 per cent moisture level as revealed from involved tests, whereas desiccation of soybean and pigeonpea seeds below 3 J and 11.8 per cent moisture level, respectively was found to be injurious. Implications of sucrose accumulation vis-a-vis desiccation tolerance in wheat seed are discussed.
