Abstract

The lectin activity was studied in different organs of Vateria indica plant and was found to be distributed in leaf, stem, root and seed. The hemagglutinating activity of all these tissues were stable upto 60–70°C. The seed lectin was different front the vegetative tissue lectins in its hemagglutination efficiency and sugar specificities which indicate the presence of two types of lectins in this plant.
