The activity of alpba-amylase, beta-smylase, peroxidase and protease during grain development was studied in three strains of hexaploid triticales having well developed, medium and highly shrivelled grains, respectively. High levels of former three enzymes at the initial stages of grain development were found to have harmful effect on tile grain whereas such high levels on the 40th day after anthesis did not cause grain shrivelling.
