Chlorophyll and anthocyanin levels have been estimated in radish cotyledons after treatment with GA3 and chloramphenicol. GA3 reduced the level of anthocyanin but did not alter chlorophyll levels significantly. Chloramphenicol prevented GA3 induced reduction in anthocyanin synthsis but caused a reduction in the synthesis of chlorophyll. The synthesis of anthocyanin appeared to be closely related to the availability of the precursors. However, the shifts in the levels of anthocyanin/chlorophyll was not found related to the activity of phenylalanine ammonia lyase.
