Abstract

Effects of zinc and cobalt on the germination and seedling growth of Jojoba (Simrnondsia chinensis L.) were studied. Application of cobalt solutions to the seeds enhanced the percentage germination over control. Treatment with zinc increased the embryo axis length between 10 and 15 days in the subsequent stages of germination. Cobalt at 5 ppm increased dry weight of the embryo axis and enhanced the catalase activity. The content of total sugars have bsen increased with the age of the seedling due to zinc and cobalt in the embryo axis over control.
