Chickpea (Cieer artetimtm L. cv. T3) plants were grown in sand culture at optimal (5.6 ppm) and low (0.56 ppm) levels of iron supply. The iron deficient plants were supplied with cysteine, glutamic acid, serine, phenylalanine, salicylic acid, coumaric acid, caffeic acid, ascorbic acid, gallic acid, IAA and GA, each at 10 ppm through roots. Plants treated with cysteine, glutamic acid, phenylalanine, salicylic acid, coumaric acid, caffeic acid and IAA showed some recovery and enhanced the chlorophyll content but enhanced the total and active iron only in glutamic acid-treated plants.
