Effect of electric current treatment of seeds on growth of seedling of bottle gourd (Lagenaria siceraria (Mol.) Stadl.)

Presowing electric current (EC) treatment (DC 220=V) of seeds affected vegetative growth and leaf pigment content in the seedlings of bottlegourd. EC treatment of 100 mA for one minute showed significant increase in height, leaf number and weight of seedlings. Highest increase in carotenoids was noted at EC treatment of 250 mA for one minute, whereas there was an increase in chlorophyll a and decrease in chlorophyll b content.
