Abstract

Effect of Tow light during ontogeny was studied among 5 cotton genotypes AKH4, H4, LRA 5166 and SRT 1. 30 per cent reduction in normal light increased cotyledonary area, plant height and leaf area. Low light increased stomatal resistance and chlorophyll content in leaf but decreased specific leaf weight and transpiration rate. LRA 5166 and SRT 1 showed better performance at 30% reduction in light due to their ability to enhance biomass production and maintenance of larger leaf area.
