NAA-Mediated growth and macromolecular changes in wheat primary leaf serial sections
Abstract
NAA concentration of 10-5M stimulated/inhibited the extension growth vis-a-vis the macromolecular contents, depending on section and time in wheat primary leaf serial sections. There was also a direct relation between extension growth and “cell size” (protein+RNA/DNA) but not between growth and “cell number” (DNA/Section), indicating thereby the greater role of the former rather than the latter, especially in the expanding sections.
