Abstract

Assimilate level in sunflower (var. Morden) was manipulated by girdling, detopping, shading and defoliation of the plants throughout ontogeny. The altered assimilate level did not bring about any feedback inhibition of photosynthesis during ontogeny of sunflower plant even though the sink demand became more pronounced during the flower initiation and seed filling stages.
