Abstract

Water soluble leaf leachates were collected by soaking 200 g dry ground leaves of Terminalia tomentosa Roth, in tap water for 4, 8, 12, 16, 20 and 24 hours. The nitrates obtained were used for germination of rice (var. Palghar-1) and eowpea (var. VCM-8) seed. Leaf leachates did not affect the germination of both the field crops. Growth and dry matter of plumule and radicle of rice progressively decreased with increase in soaking period. However, the growth and dry matter of eowpea radicle progressively increased with increase in soaking period.
