Abstract

Nodule number and size, nitrogen content of noddles and the nitrogenase activity, showed variable degree of stimulation under, 200 and 400 mg dm−3 penicillin treatments. The activities of GS, GDH, and GOGAT were highest at 100 mg dm−3 penicillin, while higher doses (200 and 400 mg dm−3 penicillin) seemed to be less effective. The increase in GS, GDH and GOGAT by 100 mg dm−3 penicillin was 15%, 65% and 29% respectively, over control.
