Abstract

The growth curves of acid lime fruit and seed showed similar pattern. The abscisic acid (ABA) concentration in the seed increased rapidly between 60 and 100 days after fruit set at a time when seed and fruit growth was faster, but decreased at later stages. The high ABA level in the seed during the rapid fruit growth phase and vice versa during fruit maturity and ripening is not suggestive of positive association of the seed hormone, ABA with acid lime fruit development. However, low concentrations of ABA in the final phase of seed development might be of significance in seed germination.
