Abstract

Ribulose-1, 5-bisphosphate carboxylase activity and Rubisco-protein were measured in the leaves of mung bean (Vigna radiata) at different stages of development in high yielding cultivar (ML-5) and a low yielding selection (VM-69) of mung bean. The leaves of ML-5 showed higher Rubisco-activity and higher amount of Rubisco-protein on fresh weight basis compared to the leaves of VM-69. The total biomass in the two genotypes was not significantly different. These findings are discussed in relation to Rubisco, yield and total biomass production.
