Abstract

Branch cuttings of Acer caesium, A. oblongum, Bauhinia racemom, Boehmeria platyphylla, Carpinus viminea, Cotoneaster affinis, Flacourtia ramontchi, Garuga pinnata, Kydia calycina, Lannea coromendelica, Quercus dilatata, Rhus cotinus, Shorea robusta were treated with auxins for root induction. Out of the 13 Himalayan tree species only two viz, Boehmeria platyphylla and Kydia calycina showed rooting. Auxins and seasonal variation played a crucial role in root initiation in both the species.
