Application of vitamins alongwith IBA to Cucumis cuttings caused earliness in rooting and improved the number and length of roots compared to IBA control. Cotyledon excision reduced the rooting which could be partially overcome by exogenous application of vitamins, suggesting their role in normal rooting. Ascorbic acid, riboflavin and nicotinic acid were found good rooting promoters, whereas folic acid inhibited rooting.
