Abstract

The interactive effects of salinity and abscisic acid and/or kinetin on transpiration and growth of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) were studied. Salinity induced a considerable reduction in transpiration, pigment fractions and dry mater. When these salt stressed plants were sprayed with kinetin and abscisic acid, transpiration and growth showed clear response to hormones treatment (either single or in combination). It appears that ABA and Kinetin have antagonistic characteristics on these parameters. Also, treatment with both the hormones together results in increased chlorophyll and dry matter accumulation and decrease in transpiration coefficient.
