Effect of Chloride and Sulphate Salinity on Flowering and Yield Attributes of Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.)
Abstract
Two promising cultivars, H-75-35 (cv1) and L-144 (cv2) of chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) were grown under 0, 4, 6, 8, 10 dSm−1 levels of chloride and sulphate salinity till maturity. The intensity of flower production was decreased progressively with increase in the levels of both types of salinity however, varietal variation was noticed in number of pods, seeds per plant, seed weight per plant, 100-seed weight and harvest index.
