Abstract

The nitrogen content in plant tissues was the highest at PI stage and subsequently declined at flowering stage in Mahsuti, while the other varieties had shown a reversible trend by increasing N content in plant tissues at flowering stage. All the genotypes had increased total carbohydrate content from PI to flowering stage. Sterility percentage was more in Janaki while it was lowest in BET 8717. PFPC was found highest in IET 8717 as compared to other genotypes. Further the varieties possessing higher PFPC indicated higher yield under the given set of conditions which is evident from the findings of the present investigation as presented and discussed herein.
