Abstract

The present investigations were carried out on field grown two cultivars of pigeonpea i.e. ICPL-151 (determinate) and H-77-216 (indeterminate) type during the years 1989 and 1990, to study the intensity and periodicity of leaf production and shedding. Total number of leaves shed per plant were more in cv. H-77-216 (43.2%) than cv. ICPL-151 (33.9%). Maximum production and shedding of leaves were observed on lower branches (from bottom) in both the cultivars. In terms of periodicity the two cultivars behaved almost similarly for leaf production but differed slightly for leaf shedding. The production and shedding of leaves were correlated with environmental factors.
