The effect of varying doses of nitrogen and potassium on the root morphology was evaluated using two potato cultivars viz. Kufri Jyoti and Kufri Chandramukhi. It was observed that in cv. Kufri Jyoti, the root growth was stimulated at lower concentrations of added N i.e. 60 ppm. However, the higher doses lowered the magnitude. The other cultivar, Kufri Chandramukni, had no effect of added N on length of the longest root, but showed positive effect with respect to root dry weight and root volume.
