Effect of Weed Leachates on Germination and Radicle Extension of Some Food Crops
Abstract
Aqueous extracts of some common weeds of Garhwal Himalaya, were tested for their phytotoxic effects on germination and radicle extension of some food crops of the region. Parthenium hysterophorus and Xanthium stramonium adversely affected the germination of Glycine max and Vigna mungo (tow principle legume crops of the region). Germination of Eleusine coracana was also affected by aqueous extracts of P. hysterophorus and X. stramonium but to a limited extent.
