Abstract

Varietal differences in net assmilation rate (NAR) and relative growth rate (RGR) of CO 1148 and COS 770 with reference to moisture stress was studied in 1981–82 and 1982–83 at Shahjahanpur. CO 1148 showed higher NAR and RGR than COS 770. Moisture - stress had adverse effect on NAR and RGR of COS 770. CO 1148 showed a rapid recovery from stress during monsoon and, therefore, proved to be a drought tolerant cultivar.
