Effect of kinetin (6-furfuryl-amino-purine) was studied on extension growth in excised segments of morning-glory (Ipomoea purpurea Lam.) hypocotyls. Kinetin at a concentration range of 10−7 M to 10−4 M, inhibited extension growth of hypocotyl segments. The activity of cataiase (E.C.1.11.1.6), peroxidase (E.C.1.11.1.7) and ployphenolase (EC.1.10.3.1) decreased with increase in the concentration of kinetin, the total soluble protein content, however, was not significantly affteeted.
