Abstract

The present investigations were carried out with an objective of sudying the influence of ploidy on photosynthetic activity in Brassica Species. Net photosynthesis when expressed on leaf area or per DNA basis there was not much influence of ploidy. However on cellular basis, considerable enhancement in photosynthetic rate was recorded in allotetraploids as compared to their diploid parents at all the four stages of growth and development i.e. vegetative, late vegetative, first anthesis and 50% flowering.
