The flavedo portion of Citrus aurantifolia was utilized for callus formation on Murashige and Skoog's medium. The cysteine and isoleucine were two new amino acids formed in callus cultures which were absent in the explant in the callus, malate dehydrogenase activity was 19 times higher and that of peroxidase 120 times higher as compared to that in the explant. The present paper shows marked biochemical differences in the profile of amino acids and enzyme systems studied between explant and callus of Citrus aurantifolia.
