In the present study leaf explants from tomato seedlings were used to obtain adventitious shoot buds. The protocol is easy and suitable for both hybrid and non hybrid tomato, thus not specific to any single genotype. Hybrid variety recorded more shoot buds than non hybrid variety. A single medium was adopted for shoot buds. Established plants were uniform and true to type. Time taken for initiation to establishment was three to four months and with about 95–99% establishment.
