Salinity applied at germination or prior to flower bud initiation stage had a marginal inhibitory effect on pollen germination. Tube growth, however, decreased with salinity, the decrement being more in pollen of plants receiving salinity at germination stage than those receiving it at later stages. NAA and BAP had no effect on the germination and tube growth of pollen of non-salinized plants but improved both these parameters in pollen from plants exposed to salinity at germination stage, BAP applied at 5 ppm was inhibitory for pollen of both salinized and non-salinized plants.
