Influence of Foliar Application of Phosphorus and Naphthalene Acetic Acid on Nitrogen, Drymatter Accumulation and Yield of Green Gram (Vigna Radiata L. Wilczek CV Aau-34)

Abstract

An experiment was conducted on green gram Vigna radiata L. Wilczek, cv. AAU-34, with fifteen treatment combinations applied as foliar spray, consisting of four concentrations of phosphorus and two of naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) with one control (water spray). The treatment combination 3.0% P2O5+ 100 ppm NAA resulted in highest total drymatter accumulation per plant, which was associated with significantly higher drymatter accumulation in stem and leaf at 40 DAS and in stem, leaf, reproductive parts and roots at 60 DAS compared to control. The foliar applied phosphorus and NAA also caused increased accumulation of nitrogen in stem and root at 40 DAS and in stem, leaf, root and root nodules at 60 DAS, The treatment combination of 3.0% + 100 ppm NAA showed highest seed yield and harvest index (7.85 q/ha and 28.76% respectively). The increased yield performance of treated plants was associated with higher number of pods per plant and seeds per pod.
