Abstract

Investigations on the endogenous phytohormones in normal and cracked fruits of lemon cv. Baramasi were conducted at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, The contents of Indole 3-acetic acid, Gibber-rellin like substances and Zeatin were more in the pulp than in peel of cracked fruits of lemon cv. Baramasi and the same were less in the pulp of normal fruits. However, the level of abscisic acid was higher in the peel than pulp of cracked fruits. Both peel and pulp of the cracked fruit had more abscisic acid than that of normal fruit. It can be concluded that higher level of IAA, Gibberellin like substances and Zeatin in the pulp and ABA in the peel might have led to cracking in lemon fruit.
