Abstract

Experiments were conducted to study the effect of sodicity on germination, growth, mineral composition, chlorophyll content and establishment of ber seedlings in pot culture. The study revealed an increasing trend in seed germination, plant height, girth, number of leaves and per cent establishment with the reduction of soil sodicity. N, P, K, Ca+ Mg and chlorophyll in leaves decreased appreciably with increase in sodicity. The leaf sodium content like Na/K, Na/Ca+ Mg followed a reverse trend. Maximum sodium content was observed in soil with higher ESP while minimum in soil having 30.28 ESP level.
