Abstract

In Colocasia esculent a var. antiquorrum (Schott.) genotypes (eddoe type Colocasia) the growth analysis of leaf related physiolgical parameters like leaf area index (LAI), leaf area duration (LAD), specific leaf weight (SLW), leaf area ratio (LAR), net assimilation rate (NAR) and crop growth rate (CGR), showed significant correlation of LAI with LAR (r=0.65*) and LAD (r=0.78**), LAD with LAR (r=0.78**) and NAR with CGR (r=0.68*). A significant positive association of LAI (r=0.64*) and CGR (r=0.68*) with yield suggested greater leaf area associated with higher dry matter production and this attributed to better yield in eddoe type Colocasia.
