Abstract

The effects of sulphur deficiency on growth and mineral composition of cotton plants was studied under green house conditions. Plant growth was not very much reduced due to S deficiency. However, the plant showed pale green colour in young leaves. Chlorophyll content of S deficient plants was drastically reduced whereas proline content was increased. The deficiency of S in nutrient solution elevated the concentration of Fe and Zn in all parts whereas λ the nutrient balance was altered by reducing the concentration of some mineral elements and at the same time enhancing the concentration of few elements in some plant parts.
