The efficacy of biofertilizers and fertilizers against crown gall infection, Azotobacter population and alkaline phosphatase activiies were studied and Glomus fasciculatum completely inhibited the infection of crown gall. The Azotobacter population increased in the rhizosphere upto 180 days and then declined. Highest population was recorded with dual inoculation as compared to Azotobacter alone. The Azotobacter population also increased with fertilizer application and alkaline phosphatase avctivity significantly increased with dual inoculation. The alkaline phosphatase activity was observed at 300 mg N Kg−1 soil. The dual inoculation with Azotobacter and Glomus fasciculatum completely inhibited the infection.
