Hormonal requirements for the in vitro morphogenesis of Camellia sinensis (L.) O. Kuntze were studied using modified Murashige and Skoog medium fortified either with auxin/cytokinin or both. No promotory effect was observed when nodal explants were cultured on auxins or on auxin in combination with cytokinins. Benzyl-amino-purine is adequate to elicite the rapid multiplication followed by kinetin.
